Meet Our New Faculty & Staff!

Sheryl Elkins

Hi! I’m Sheryl Elkins, and I’m excited to be teaching middle school math at A.E. Phillips. I’ve taught middle and/or high school math for 19 years, and I truly love helping students build confidence in their math skills. Before becoming a teacher, I worked in the business world after earning a degree in Finance and Economics from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. I discovered my passion for teaching while substitute teaching at my children’s school and later earned my certification through the iTeach program.

I live in Spearsville with my husband, Stan. We have two sons, Triston and Canyon, a wonderful daughter-in-law, Kristina, and the most precious granddaughter, Khloe. In my free time, I enjoy traveling and scuba diving.

I’m honored to have received a Commitment to Excellence Award and been named Union Parish Educator of the Year. I’m looking forward to a great year at A.E. Phillips!

Taylor Johnston

Hi! My name is Taylor Johnston. I will be teaching 5th grade Math and Science at AEP. I have a passion for helping young learners thrive both academically and socially while bringing energy, patience, and a strong sense of purpose to my classroom every day.

I’m also a proud wife and mom of two, and my family means the world to me. When I am not teaching, I am spending time with family, reading, or working at my part time job as a U.S Army Reserve soldier. This is my 10th year serving in the military and it is a passion of mine, next to teaching.

Crystal Ramsey

Hi!  My name is Crystal Ramsey.  My husband, Dustin, and I are parents to 4. Our oldest will be graduating this upcoming school year, and our youngest will be starting the second grade. We have a small hobby farm and a growing garden. We love spending time together creating memories as well as traveling. We are very active in our church and enjoy serving people. I like walking, reading, and continuing my education. One of the best aspects of being a teacher is the opportunity to help students read, comprehend, analyze, and create effective writing. I am passionate about helping each student achieve success in these areas and discover their voice through writing and public speaking. My family and I are thrilled to be part of the Bullpup family and look forward to this school year!
